39 weeks pregnant

39 weeks pregnant

I am sat writing this whilst enjoying breakfast and a cappuccino in Boston tea party, as a reward for braving a bikini and full leg wax whilst 39 weeks pregnant this morning! It actually wasn’t that bad in the end, the most difficult thing was getting my bloody skinny jeans on and off! And at least now I feel all ready going into labour. Mike thinks it’s a bit ridiculous to worry about how everything looks ‘down there’ during labour, but your so exposed it’s nice to know that everything is ship shape and tidy. I hate the idea of it all being like an overgrown garden and your midwife judging you from the off! I know this is probably a bit silly, and I’m sure their very professional and have seen lady gardens in all shapes/sizes etc but still… hence my de-chewbacca appointment today!

My delicious brunch at Boston Tea Party

Anyway, this week has been pretty uneventful so far, no baby, obviously! No appointments this week either, don’t see midwife until 41 weeks! Definitely don’t feel like I can wait that long. I may actually pop!! I think baby has definitely moved down and descended a bit further this week as hip pain and sciatica has been much worse, and reflux has improved.

Managed to get out and about for short walks most days this week, mostly so Hayden can practice his walking, but he’s still insistent on using his walker at the moment. He seems to really love being outside and seeing lots of other people! Yesterday he spend 30 minutes chasing this little 3 year old girl round the park, much to her amusement thankfully!

Hayden walking in the park

Mike is now off work on annual leave for 2 weeks before paternity leave which is a relief to be honest, as bending down for anything is now pretty impossible. I think he’s hoping for another week before the baby comes to try and finish some decorating and gardening. This would be good to get done, but selfishly I’m ready for baby to come now. I’ve already warned him that if we get to Tuesday (my official due date the 14th) and still no baby, then I’m starting on the pineapple and spicy food! Think I might skip the inducement advice of sex though, sorry Mike just can’t face it this time round! Anyway we tried that loads to try and encourage Hayden’s arrival and it did nothing, so I’m not convinced!

Not much else to add really, just a bit of a waiting game now. It’s so different from last time, as we knew I was getting induced at 40 weeks. I’m unsure about what to expect and unsure about if I’ll actually know when I’m in early labour? Unless my waters break in a sudden big gush, movie style, in which case I’m pretty sure I’d recognise that (mind you I could have just wet myself!?). When I was induced, I didn’t have any symptoms initially and after 5 hours the contractions started. They were initially like mild-moderate period pains but I was having them regularly from the start, every 5 minutes so there wasn’t much misinterpreting that as the start of things. But I get the impression from talking to my other mummy friends that the start of labour can be much more subtle than that, mild/niggly contractions every 15-20 minutes and then slowly increasing in frequency and severity. Who knows how it will go this time round? We shall see I guess? I really don’t like the unknown!!

I’d love to hear about how your labours started? And if you’ve got any tips for how to manage contractions whilst still at home?

YAY!! I’m 39 weeks today! With my first.

This definitely isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I am not a shaver. I believe in my natural beauty and even I (and by that I mean my husband) have been trimming down there. LOL! It’s not that I care what people think, it’s because they’re probably going to have to shave it themselves anyway, why not get it taken care of and out of the way myself.

Glad to hear your babe has moved down! Mine is still sitting very high and I’m starting to get a little worried.

Haha, I’m also eating spicy food and pineapple. We’re having sex daily and I’m constantly bouncing on a yoga ball. I don’t believe that these actually work, but I’ve got to try. I’m so tired of being pregnant and I just want to meet my baby already! I don’t feel guilty because at 39 weeks, he’s fully cooked.

I’ve heard that if you’re not sure whether or not you wet yourself of it is actually your water, lay down for ten minutes and then stand up. If you have another gush, it’s your water. I’m terrified I’ll go into labor and not know it!

I don’t have any tips as this is my first time, but I’m planning to bounce on an exercise ball to manage pain until it’s time to go in. Good luck to you! Sounds like we’ll be having our babies very close together!!

I’m also 39 weeks pregnant with baby no.2. My first was a week early and labour started with my waters breaking whilst I was in bed. There was so much water it was like someone had tipped a bucket of water over. Definitely no question as to whether I’d just accidentally wet myself.

Because of this I’m also a bit apprehensive about whether I’ll know if labour is starting if my waters don’t break first this time. I’m already feeling achy and get lots of braxton hicks so I’m hoping I’ll be able to tell the difference when the real thing starts.

I’m definitely feeling ready to get this show on the road and meet baby no.2. I think I’d be ok if she made me wait until my due date but if she’s late I might start going a little stir crazy!

Good luck with your wait / labour. I look forward to hearing about your baby’s safe arrival very soon.

I know what you mean, I’m ready now and happy to wait until due date but can’t bear thought of going on longer than that! Although obviously may have no choice! Good luck to you too! ? x

  3. March 11, 2017 / 11:32 am

Yay! Not long now 🙂 My labour started with my waters breaking, then I didn’t go into natural labour so was induced. After 3 days in labour I finally gave birth to my daughter! Fingers crossed this time I don’t have to be induced.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you too! Good luck. When are you due?

  4. March 11, 2017 / 12:45 pm

I hope baby doesn’t keep you waiting too much longer now 🙂 With both of my children I went over to 42 weeks and 41+10! Absolute nightmare. I have to agree with keeping it all tidy in the downstairs area I was exactly the same. But I do have to say your heave for getting a wax so far along lol!

    Zoe x

    • March 11, 2017 / 1:07 pm

Gosh 41+10! Poor you! I hope I don’t get that far! Yes I couldn’t decide if I definitely needed to get one (a wax) again since my last but in the end thought I might as well as baby hadn’t arrived.

      • March 11, 2017 / 1:11 pm

I had spd so it was a lot harder then my first but he came the day I was due to be induced so I was happy! At least now you will feel more comfortable giving birth anytime now that you are all ready. Do you know babies sex?

        • March 11, 2017 / 1:50 pm

Yes that’s true! Yes having another boy, so didn’t need to get much additional stuff this time round! X

  5. March 11, 2017 / 4:21 pm

I hate the waiting game at the end. My kids have got progressively overdue so Zach had to be induced 🙁

  6. March 12, 2017 / 12:41 pm

I can’t say I bothered with any lady prep before either of mine haha! Like you I was induced first time around and was sure with number 2 that I’d miss the subtle signs. Turns out that my subtle signs of labour were 0-full contractions in about half an hour, so I was just fine haha!! I suddenly had a very recognisable contraction about 10:30pm exactly 1 week over, and by 11pm I was having full blow contractions in the car! At 2am Wills arrived! Good luck, I’m excited for you!!!! ‘#blogstravaganza

    • March 12, 2017 / 1:58 pm

Gosh yes that wasn’t subtle at all for you was it!! Thanks ? x

Oh hope everything goes well for you and not much longer to wait! My first, I started with contraction regularly every 3-4mins, but I didn’t progress! After 2 days of this and finally getting to 3cms they hooked me up to the hormone drip. 24hrs later cs! 2nd baby elective cs! X

Doing the ironing in labour is a seriously good idea. All that rocking motion from side to side and something to lean on when you need to stop for a minute. Good luck!

  9. March 13, 2017 / 10:29 am

Go you! I don’t think I could’ve braved being waxed so late in pregnancy, I just didn’t care. ? Such an exciting time, I hope baby arrives soon! I had a sweep that set me off with both of mine, the first gradual pains for 7 hours before getting to 4-5cm, the second pain starting strong straight away and only 1 hour until I was 4-5cm. ? Thanks for linking to #MarvMondays. Kaye xo

    • March 13, 2017 / 10:36 am

Lol! Me too, had a sweep yesterday but nothing happening as of yet.

  10. March 13, 2017 / 7:33 pm

Well done you braving the wax, enjoy the quiet time before baba arrives!

    • March 13, 2017 / 7:34 pm

Thanks! Not that quiet with toddler in tow! Lol ? x

  11. March 13, 2017 / 11:00 pm

Hope it all goes well for you, I’ll be thinking about you. I’m an antenatal teacher so love hearing pregnancy and birth stories 🙂 The hip pain and sciatica is the worst, have they offered you any physio for that?

    • March 13, 2017 / 11:02 pm

They did sort of half heartedly offer physio but it was only on once a week and I didn’t have anyone to look after my little one so couldn’t really go unfortunately. Thanks for commenting x

  12. March 13, 2017 / 11:20 pm

Oh wow this is so exciting. I hope baby comes soon. That brunch looks amazing!! #maternitymondays

    • March 13, 2017 / 11:22 pm

Me too!! Not good at waiting lol! Yes brunch was a love,y treat. Thanks for commenting x

  13. March 14, 2017 / 8:45 am

Wow, 39 weeks! This is such an exciting time for you! I hope you enjoy the little time you have before baby comes along! Good luck! Thanks so much for sharing with #Blogstravaganza, hope to see you again next week (if you aren’t in labour!) xx

  14. March 15, 2017 / 9:28 am

I can’t believe you went for a wax, you’re brave. But as long as you feel comfortable that’s the main thing x

  15. March 15, 2017 / 11:04 am

Wow! This is so exciting! The waiting game is just that little bit longer. Well done for being brave on wearing bikini and having a full leg wax at 39 weeks! Bravo! xx #Dreamteam
